Artist / Illustrator. Commissions, projects and teaching.

As a botanical artist I work in pencil and watercolour to record in minute detail the beauty found in everyday nature. I contrast this by beginning most of my work ’en plein air’ or outdoors in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside.  By sketching and painting quickly, I hope to imbue a sense of the place into my work - a snapshot that I can take back to the studio to work on in further detail. I’m drawn to the intricate detail revealed by the magnifying glass.

I have a BA (Cons) in scientific illustration and have worked over the years for The Cambridge University Botanical Garden, The Hunterian Museum and Cambridge University Zoology Museum as a freelance illustrator.
I teach adults and children to paint and draw.
